==========================================================================

Note from Rebecca Ray Carver on the second marriage of David Hickox. "Through browsing. I had enough information on his second wife to locate their marriage record. They did not get married until 1872 and married across the state line in Cass County Michigan. So, they were not married at the time of this census, but were living as man and wife. The children listed are hers by a former marriage to a man named John Tyler Mott. By several accounts David thought of the girls as his own children. He is listed as Charles Reed in the marriage record, as well. He and Lucy did not divorce--at least there is no record at the Lenawee Courthouse that they did. So, hence the reason for the assumed name. This is probably when he first used the Reed name."
