MRS THOMAS KNIGHT DIED SUNDAY MORNING

She Had Reached the Age of 75 and Had Been Ill for the Past Five Months

Mrs. Thomas Knight, 75 years of age, and a resident of Adrian since 1862, died at the family home at

15 Vine Street about 6 o'clock Sunday morning of a complications of diseases which had confinded her

to the bed for the past five months.

She was the wife of Andrew Knight (sic), well known locally as a market gardener, and leaves in

addition to the widower, three sons, Andrew Knight of 9 Vine Street, Thomas Knight of Sherman City,

Mich., and Charles Knight of Meridian, Miss., and one brother Henry Andrews of England, her native

land.

Mrs. Knight was a great home woman, highly regarded in her community, and a member of the

Episcopalian Church.

The funeral services are arranged for 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from 9 Vine Street, the home of the

son, where the venerable widower will now reside.

Mary married Thomas KNIGHT  son of William Jordan KNIGHT and Jane BERRY on 20 Sep 1858 in Lorain, Lorain, Ohio. Thomas was born on 23 Oct 1830 in Lubenham ,Leicester,England. He was christened^7,8  on 15 Apr 1832 in Lubenham,Leicester,England. He died on 18 Nov 1916 in near Petersburg Michigan. He was buried⁹  after 18 Nov 1916 in Oakland Cemetery, Adrian, Lenawee, Michigan.

Thomas joined religion Episcopal, Church of England. He was employed as Landscape, Gardner. He immigrated¹⁰  about 1852 to England. He resided after 1861 in Lorain Ohio

and Adrian, Lenawee, Michigan. He was counted in a census¹¹  on 2 Jul 1870 in Adrian, Lenawee, Michigan. He was counted in a census¹²  on 14 Jun 1880 in McCallum St., Adrian, Lenawee, Michigan. He was counted in a census¹³  on 12 Jun 1900 in 115 Michigan Ave., Adrian, Lenawee, Michigan. He was counted in a census in 1910 in Adrian, Lenawee, Michigan. He was counted in a census^14,15  on 21 Apr 1910 in 15 Vine St., Household 145-133, Adrian, Lenawee, Michigan. He was employed as Landscape Gardener.

According to family tradition, Thomas Knight emigrated to the U.S. on the same boat as Mary Ann

Andrews. They met en route to Adrian, Michigan on that boat. They had not known each other before

coming to the U.S.  However, the 1900 census clearly gives two different years of immigration for both

Thomas and Mary Ann.

Thomas' wife Mary Ann died in Adrian from organic hear disease.  Thomas died

at the home of his son Andrews, in Ida Township, Monroe County, near

Petersburg, Michigan from La Grippe (influenza).  Both Thomas and Mary Ann are

buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Adrian, Michigan.
